Primer Membrane

Primer Membrane

It is a water-based liquid bitumen emulsion used as a primer in waterproofing.

Usage Areas

It is used as a waterproofing material in the foundations and basement curtains of buildings, as a waterproofing material in dry or damp details such as terraces, roofs, kitchens, and bathrooms, as a primer under bituminous coatings, as a primer and binder in applications such as glass fabric and canvas, and as an impermeability and adhesion-enhancing additive in mortars and renders created with cement and/or fine sand. Additionally, it is used as a mold release agent to prevent distortion due to water and as a mold separator in construction molds

Surface Preparation

The application surface should be cleaned from dust, dirt, rust, and oil, and loose particles should be scraped off. Sharp edges and corners should be rounded.

Application Methods

Before applying primer to the surfaces where insulation will be performed, the surface smoothness, dryness, cleanliness, and the presence of a sufficiently sloped screed should be checked. Once these conditions are met, the membrane primer, a water-based liquid bitumen emulsion, is applied to the surface at a rate of 400 g per square meter with a brush or roller, and it is allowed to dry completely. It can also be used by diluting it with water by 20% if necessary. It dries in approximately 4-5 hours depending on weather conditions. In two-coat applications, the second coat should not be applied until the first coat is completely dry. The membrane bonding process is initiated after the primer has dried completely

Storage

The roll of the membrane primer-based waterproofing material, Membrane Primer, should be stored vertically and in a cool, indoor space. It should be protected from direct sunlight. When stored in its unopened original packaging, in a dry and cool environment, its shelf life is 12 months

TS 113

Advantages

It is environmentally friendly as it does not contain solvents and can be easily used indoors. It can be applied to dry and moist surfaces. After drying, it forms a continuous layer that is impermeable to water and vapor on the applied surface. It is used as a primer under bitumen coatings, as a waterproofing and adhesion-enhancing additive in insulation coatings and cement-based mortars.
